After finishing second in the recently concluded American Idol, David Archuleta (Archie to fans) released his debut single Crush via digital download. Being leaked on a New York City station, the particular song now gains it's airplay popularity receiving millions of requests in the radio in and even worldwide. The song got it's potential to it's hummable tune that complements Archie's voice and the best parts of the song is his false-like falsettos in the bridge of the song. He just simply showed his stuff that is well-loved by his fans during his idol days. The song debuted at #2 at the Billboard's Hot 100 since it's release and #1 in Hot Digital Songs. As of this day of writing, David along with the crew are still in shooting for the song's music video. (I'll keep you posted as long as the video of the song is available). Natasha Bedingfield's Pocketful of Sunshine
I just got a close encounter of this song through last week's elimination night of American Idol Season 7 where she performed it live. Taken from the album with the same title, this is her second single released from her Second American album. Afar from her current hit Love like This (with RnB's newest goldmine Sean Kingston), this song has much more power as far as the message and vocal prowess is concern. The song implies the message of hope amidst of doubt, beauty amidst of ugliness and strength in times of weakness, Natasha showcases her talent of writing songs close from her heart. What I notice about her is the different quality of her song when it is performed live and when it is recorded. Usually, live versions where the poorest version you can take but take Natasha's performance an exemption. She hit notes naturally and it doesn't sound like she's belting it out. Who knows, her live performance might be a major hit as far as digital downloads is concern.

Lil Mama's Shawty Get Loose
She's one of the freshest voices in RNB today, Lil Mama penetrated the scene when she did the song LipGloss. After doing a collaboration with Avril Lavigne via the song Girlfriend, this Harlem native is now swinging the charts via her another hit song Shawty Get Loose. This particular track was performed along with T-Pain and RNB hot item Chris Brown. Since it's release last February 19, 2008, this song was featured as a promo song for the upcoming program Dancing with the Stars. Chart-wise, it peaked at no. 10 in Billboard's Hot 100 charts and placed no. 15 in Pop 100 charts. Song Reviews: Janet Jackson's Feedback (Remix) featuring Ciara
The first single from Janet Jackson's tenth studio album and her first in Island records entitled Discipline. Released as a digital download, the song peaked at the Billboard's Hot 100 chart at no. 51 and streamed at U.S. airplay on January 7, 2008. The remix version of the song features the princess of Crunk nb Ciara. The particular version of the song is heard on MySpace, Youtube and mainstream radio. Feedback's beat will somewhat remind you of her other tracks from her previous albums All For You and So Excited featuring Khia. Nothing that fresh but it stresses the style ala Janet Jackson. The song set the record at no. 6 at Billboard's Hot Dance Club Play and at no. 39 in Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs. Planning to host a club party, don't forget to include this song in your list.

Amy Winehouse brought home the bacon
Amy Winehouse bagged 5 major awards in the recently concluded Grammy awards held at Staples Center in Los Angeles. From her six nod, she won five including Record of the Year, Song of the Year, New Artist, Pop Vocal Album and Female Pop Vocal Performance. She sang "You Know I'm No Good" and "Rehab" via satellite from London as she received her awards with tears of joy. We all know her drug-addiction issues but this recognition serves as her catalyst to promote her music more than her image.
Aside from Winehouse, Kanye West's Graduation album garnered four awards including Rap Album of the Year, Rap Solo Performance for his song "Stronger", Rap Performance by a Duo or Group for "Southside", and Rap Song for "Good Life". There are notable performances in that night including Alicia Keys "duet" with Frank Sinatra (appeared in black and white on a video screen) with the song "Learnin' the Blues". Not only that Kanye rapped Stronger with Daft Punk filling the beat as the former dedicates his performance to his late mother Donda. Seems like Grammy gives chance to our demented singer.

Sarah Bareilles' Love Song
"Blank stares at blank pages
No easy way to say this
You mean well but you make this hard on me"
No easy way to say this
You mean well but you make this hard on me"
This line is borrowed from Sarah Bareilles' song Love Song from her debut album Little Voice. Fused with her melodic voice and sweet-sensation of pop, you might notice that she sounded like Colbie Caillat. Once you heard her song again and again, you will notice the difference. First, the harmony of piano in Love Song compared to the sweet-strum of guitar for Colbie Caillat's Bubbly. Meanwhile, after its release in iTunes as a free song on June 16, 2007, it peaked at the U.S. Billboard Top 100 and earning its #32 spot in Hot Digital Songs. The song's standings as of this moment is now at the #9 spot in Billboard's Hot 100 list. She might be compared to other artists of her genre but she's unique having no formal training in piano and voice which is rare among the artist of today.

Mary J. Blige's Just Fine
This song is from the Queen of Hip Hop Mary J. Blige's eight studio album Growing Pains. The moment I listen to the song, it got its upbeat melody that's perfect for a house party right at your next block. Not only the rhythm is catchy, the lyrics also implies women empowerment as it encourage women to be strong enough to stand against all odds even without men in their lives. The album alone sold 629,000 copies on its first week alone that made it at the second spot at Billboard's 200 Album charts. The success of the album gone too far as it gained its post at #29 in Rolling Stone's Top 50 Albums of 2007. Meanwhile, the song Just Fine remained at good standing in both Hot 100 and RnB charts of Billboard not to mention it got a nod at this year's Grammy's in Female RnB Vocal Performance category. T-Pain and Flo Rida's Low
The team effort of T-Pain and uprising rnb superstar Flo Rida's Low remained as the winner in Billboard's Hot 100. The single ousted Alicia Keys' No One from the top spot as it reigned for weeks. Low is from Flo Rida's debut album Mail on Sunday which will be released on February of this year. The song describes sexy ladies hitting the clubs which of course more of a T-Pain style. It set a record in Billboard Magazine History garnering 470,000 digital copies of the single intended for the January 12 charting. The song itself is fast-rising and who knows, another follow-up song will make way for Flo Rida's fate o' fame.

Britney Spears tops The Buzz 100 list
She's definitely a noise-maker last year and there's no wonder that Britney Spears claimed the top spot at the Billboard's most blogged celebrities. From her child custody issues to her alleged pregnancy, she rocked the four corners of the entertainment world. Since the release of her album last October of 2007, it placed no. 2 in Billboard's 200 chart and her singles Piece of Me and Gimme More received the same reception taking their own spots in Hot Digital Song, Pop 100, Hot Dance Airplay, and Hot 100 all in courtesy of Billboard.com. The album per se is the best among Britney's roster of albums but bad publicity greatly affects her album sales, not to mention its scandalous album jacket where she used religious paraphernalia. One thing's for sure, she's a celebrity in every essence of the word.
