Song Reviews: Rihanna and Maroon 5's If I Never See Your Face Again

song reviews, Maroon 5, Rihanna
It's a fan dream come to life as Rihanna teams up with pop-rock band Maroon 5 for the single If I Never See Your Face Again. As she recently admitted, Rihanna can't hide her deep admiration for the band and their music. So when the band invited her to incorporate some vocals for the song, she didn't hesitate to nod. This song is included in Maroon 5's 2nd studio album It Won't Be Soon Before Long and to Rihanna's 3rd album Good Girl Gone Bad both of which is re-released. Vocal-wise their collaboration is great specially when they hit the high part where Adam Levigne and Rihanna's voice collide, it's really cool and brings that chill down your spine. They look good together in the video adding it's appeal in the charts. It gained the 11th spot since the single was first released in the U.S. iTunes apart from it's success in the Billboard's Hot 100 and Pop 100 charts. Expect more from this song as it will blaze it's way not only in the charts or in the digital downloads mark but also in the listeners and music lovers as well.

If I Never See Your Face Again

song reviews, Maroon 5, Rihanna

[Adam]
Now as the summer fades, I let you slip away
You say I’m not your type, But I can make you sway.
It makes you burn to learn, You’re not the only one
I'd let you be if you put down your blazing gun.

[Rihanna]
Now you’ve gone somewhere else, Far away
I don’t know if I will find you (find you, find you).
But you feel my breath, On your neck
Can’t believe I’m right behind you (right behind you).

[Both]
‘Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
And if I never see your face again, I don’t mind
‘Cause we gone much further than I thought we'd get tonight

[Rihanna]
Sometimes you move so well
It’s hard not to give in.

[Adam]
I’m lost, I can’t tell
Where you end and I begin.

[Rihanna]
It makes you burn to learn
I'm with another man.

[Adam]
I wonder if he’s half
The lover that I am.

[Adam]
Now you’ve gone somewhere else, Far away
I don’t know if I will find you (find you, find you).
But you feel my breath, On your neck
Can’t believe I’m right behind you (right behind you).

[Both]
‘Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
And if I never see your face again, I don’t mind
‘Cause we gone much further than I thought we'd get tonight

[Adam]
Baby, baby
Please believe me
Find it in your heart to reach me
Promise not to leave me behind
(Promise not to leave me behind)

[Rihanna]
Take me down, but take it easy
Make me think but don’t deceive me
Talk to me bout taking your time
(Talk to me, talk to me)

[Rihanna]
‘Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before

[Both]
And if I never see your face again, I don’t mind
‘Cause we gone much further than I thought we'd get tonight

[Both]
‘Cause you keep me coming back for more
And I feel a little better than I did before
And if I never see your face again, I don’t mind
‘Cause we gone much further than I thought we'd get tonight

Natasha Bedingfield's Pocketful of Sunshine

natasha bedingfield, song reviews

I just got a close encounter of this song through last week's elimination night of American Idol Season 7 where she performed it live. Taken from the album with the same title, this is her second single released from her Second American album. Afar from her current hit Love like This (with RnB's newest goldmine Sean Kingston), this song has much more power as far as the message and vocal prowess is concern. The song implies the message of hope amidst of doubt, beauty amidst of ugliness and strength in times of weakness, Natasha showcases her talent of writing songs close from her heart. What I notice about her is the different quality of her song when it is performed live and when it is recorded. Usually, live versions where the poorest version you can take but take Natasha's performance an exemption. She hit notes naturally and it doesn't sound like she's belting it out. Who knows, her live performance might be a major hit as far as digital downloads is concern.

Pocketful of Sunshine

natasha bedingfield, song reviews

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.

I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.

Oh.

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.

Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.

No.

Take me away: A secret place.

A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.

Take me away: A higher place.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.

I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.

Oh.

Do what you want, but you're never gonna break me.

Sticks and stones are never gonna shake me.

No.

I got a pocket, got a pocketful of sunshine.

I got a love, and I know that it's all mine.

Oh.

Wish that you could, but you ain't gonna own me.

Do anything you can to control me.

Oh, no.

Take me away: A secret place.

A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.

Take me away: A higher place.

There's a place that I go,

But nobody knows.

Where the rivers flow,

And I call it home.

And there's no more lies.

In the darkness, there's light.

And nobody cries.

There's only butterflies.

Take me away: A secret place.

A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.

Take me away: A higher place.

Take me away: A secret place.

A sweet escape: Take me away.

Take me away to better days.

Take me away: A higher place.

Take me away: A secret place.

To better days take me away.

Take me away to better days.

Take me away: A higher place.

The sun is on my side.

Take me for a ride.

I smile up to the sky.

I know I'll be all right.

The sun is on my side.

Take me for a ride.

I smile up to the sky.

I know I'll be all right.
